Bounce rate calculator.
Work out your email bounce rate in seconds — enter how many emails you sent and how many bounced, and see the rate plus whether it's healthy, worth watching, or a problem. Runs right here in your browser.
Bands: under 2% healthy, 2–5% worth watching, over 5% risky. These are rules of thumb, not hard lines — the number that matters is your own rate over time, not a single send against an industry average.
How the bounce rate is calculated
The formula is simple: (bounces ÷ sent) × 100. Send 10,000 emails, have 233 bounce, and your rate is 2.33% — right at the cross-industry average. What matters more than any single send is the trend, and whether your hard bounces — the permanent failures — are near zero, since those are the ones that damage your sender reputation.
- Under 2% — healthy
- In the range mailbox providers expect from a careful sender.
- 2–5% — worth watching
- Around or above the industry average — clean your list before the next send. See the bounce rate benchmarks for how your industry compares.
- Over 5% — risky
- High enough to risk throttling or filtering — see why bounce rate matters.
