Keep your Moosend subscribers clean and deliverable
Moosend retires addresses that hard-bounce and stops mailing them, but it can't judge a subscriber it has never sent to, and those never-mailed invalids from imports and signup forms are what quietly erode your deliverability and inflate a subscriber-count bill. Qualisend closes that gap with a live native Moosend connector: connect your account and verify lists in place, writing results back so junk never reaches a send. Prefer to keep the loop manual, or verify at the point of capture? The CSV export path and the REST API do the same job.

Connect Moosend and clean it in place
Connect Moosend with an API key and Qualisend verifies the lists you already have — right inside Moosend, no export. Dead and risky addresses are suppressed or archived for you, every new subscriber is checked in real time, and you can re-verify on a schedule so the list never drifts back to dirty.
Prefer to work by hand, or verify at signup through your own stack? The CSV export → verify → reimport loop below and the REST API are fully supported too.
Connect MoosendWhat Moosend cleans for you
Moosend's built-in hygiene runs on member status and automatic bounce handling. When an address hard-bounces, Moosend marks that member Bounced and stops sending to it, and repeated soft bounces are eventually treated the same way. Moosend also honors every unsubscribe automatically and gives you a suppression list you can load so a blocked address is never mailed again across any campaign. For subscribers Moosend has actually mailed, that's reliable automatic hygiene.
What it can't catch
The catch is that every one of those mechanisms is reactive: it needs a send and a bounce to fire. Never-mailed invalids from imports and signup forms, disposable throwaway addresses, role addresses, decayed mailboxes, and catch-all domains all look like healthy subscribers until your first campaign proves otherwise, which is exactly when a mailbox provider forms its first impression of your domain. An imported list is the sharpest case: it arrives with its bounce history stripped, so addresses that were already failing on another platform look brand new to Moosend, and each one lands on your billable subscriber count the moment it's added.
Why a clean Moosend list matters
On Moosend the stakes are double, because Moosend prices on the number of subscribers you store, not the emails you send. Every dead, disposable, or duplicate address is a line item on your invoice as well as a drag on deliverability, and pruning enough of them can drop you into a lower subscriber tier. Meanwhile a list full of never-mailed invalids turns your next campaign into a wave of hard bounces that dents your sender reputation right as Gmail and Yahoo's 2024 bulk-sender rules judge you on bounce and spam-complaint rates. Cleaning before a send does both jobs at once: it trims the count your plan is billed on and protects the inbox placement of the campaigns that actually convert.
Prefer CSV or the API? Here's the manual path
The native connector is the fastest route, but the CSV loop works on any Moosend plan: export from Moosend, verify in Qualisend, and act on the results.
Export your list from Moosend
Open Audience, go to Email Lists, and choose the list you want to clean (or build a segment first for a targeted maintenance pass), then export the members to CSV with the email column included.
Verify the file in Qualisend
Upload the CSV to Qualisend bulk cleaning, up to 1,000,000 addresses per job with live progress and duplicates charged once, or paste a sample first. The free plan's 100 one-time credits never expire and cover an initial spot-check.
Read the results
Every address returns deliverable, risky, undeliverable, or unknown with a machine-readable reason code, a 0-100 confidence score, and sub-flags (catch-all, disposable, role, full mailbox), plus the MX provider and SMTP probe detail as evidence. Download the cleaned CSV.
Suppress or remove the dead in Moosend
Filter your results to undeliverable and disposable, then import those addresses into Moosend's suppression list so they're blocked from every future campaign, or delete those members outright. Deleting is what takes an address off the subscriber count your plan is billed on, so remove when trimming the bill is the goal and keep the cleaned CSV as the record that stops a future import from re-adding them.
Or automate it at signup
Prefer to keep junk out from the start? Verify at the point of capture with the Qualisend REST API (scoped keys, rate limits, webhooks), or wire a no-code Zapier, Make, or n8n flow so a new Moosend subscriber is checked before it's ever added, keeping typos and disposable addresses off both your sends and your billable count. The native connector also verifies new contacts in real time and runs scheduled re-cleans automatically.
What Qualisend flags on every address
- Never-mailed invalid addresses that would hard-bounce on your next campaign and push the member to Bounced
- Disposable and throwaway domains, accepted at signup, that were built to expire
- Role addresses like info@ and support@ that skew engagement-judged automations
- Catch-all domains, flagged so you can move them to a dedicated segment and throttle
- A 0-100 confidence score and machine-readable reason code for every address
The native Moosend connector is live — connect it in Qualisend under Integrations and clean your list without a single CSV. New contacts are verified automatically, and you can re-verify on a schedule.
What to do with each result
Every address comes back with a verdict and sub-flags. Here's the action that keeps your Moosend list clean without throwing away contacts you can still reach.
deliverableKeep as an active subscriber and send as normal.deliverable + role flagKeep for transactional content; exclude from engagement-judged automations.risky + catch-all flagMove to a dedicated segment and throttle your sends; don't delete.risky + disposable flagSuppress or delete; the inbox was built to expire.unknownKeep active and re-verify next clean; usually greylisting, not a verdict on the mailbox.undeliverableDelete to take it off your subscriber count, or suppress to block it; don't wait for the bounce to prove it.Related reading
